This is because technology changes fast and you may find a blanket that is better and safer than the one you are replacing. When first using your electric blanket controls read the instruction manual from cover to cover. Get familiar with what the electric blanket control mechanism can do. Some come with a preheat feature that warms your bed up to your preferred preset temperature so you'll never have to get in a chilly bed. Other blankets have dual controls on both sides for two separate heating zones, a must-have if you share your bed with a partner.
